Rawley and I celebrated 10 years of marriage in October. It's amazing what life has brought us in a decade. We started out young, crazy in love, naive and living the simple but fun life of college students. We went off on our own and started a life in San Francisco working like real grown-ups do. We experienced 12 hour work days, our first car break-in, 3 stolen road bikes, the Muni bus line, take-out almost every night, exploring our amazing city and traveling. We also experienced the birth of our three lovely children, the purchase of our first home, the transition of life as a "single" couple to a party of 5, and how amazing a city can be exploring it with 3 young children -the good and the bad.
Now we are officially living the life of a suburban family. Life has gotten more simple, thank goodness, but still brings us excitement, joy and appreciation for the things that matter the most to us. Rawley and I not only have each other to love but also three amazing children who have helped us learn, grow and increase our capacity to love. So ten years later, we're a little less young, still crazy in love with some of that craziness coming from our 3 crazy kids, we're a little more aware of what the world can bring and still living the simple but joyful and sometimes challenging life of a family of 5.
My parents were in town and gave us a little break from the kids. Rawley and I got to celebrate in our favorite city. He surprised me with our first tour of the Bay, dinner at Boulevard - my favorite restaurant in the city, and an evening at the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa. I left feeling so relaxed and with glowing skin. I made a DVD of our last 10 years and Rawley gave me a traveling book on Cambodia, where we hope to continue to celebrate.
